Multiple Intelligences

 

Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences can help you recognize new talents you haven't previously acknowledged. Of Gardner's books, my personal favourite is Creating Minds: An Anatomy of Creativity Seen Through the Lives of Freud, Einstein, Picasso, Stravinsky, Eliot, Graham, and Gandhi. Gardner himself cautions against the use of questionnaires to identify one's intelligences. If, however, you want to try one, go to www.ldrc.ca/projects/miinventory/miinventory.php.

 

Martin Seligman

 

Seligman is a towering figure in modern psychology. His book Authentic Happiness is a wonderful read, full of practical guidance. A tool that many have found particularly useful is the VIA Signature Strengths Survey: www.authentichappiness.org/perl/Strengths.pl.
